I'm not celebrating a reunion year, why should I attend Alumni Weekend?

The Harris School Alumni Weekend is not just about getting back together with your classmates, it is a weekend to build and enhance our community. This community includes all alumni, their spouses and friends, current students, faculty and of course staff. The vast majority of our events are not class-specific and are meant to engage community members in many different areas of interest.

What constitutes a reunion year?

Although Alumni Weekend is meant to serve as one big reunion for all alumni and the broader Harris community, we also want to celebrate milestone reunions for each class. These reunions include classes at one year followed by five year increments. In 2017 we will be celebrating the classes ending in 2’s and 7’s.
Is there a cost to attend Alumni Weekend?

Yes. Due to the scale of this two-day event, we charge a registration fee for a variety of passes. Visit the ticket information page for more details.

What do I need to do if I plan to attend central University Alumni Weekend activities?

If you plan to attend any activities hosted by central University Alumni Weekend, you must register for those events seperately at Such activities include UChicaGO Party, Fun Run, Wine Tasting, Family Festival, other UnCommon Core sessions not hosted by Harris, etc.

Check-In for central University activities: If you register for events hosted by central University Alumni Weekend, you will need to check-in seperately on the Main Quad. Your Harris name badge will not allow you acess to central Univeristy Alumni Weekend activities, except the UnCommon Core Session hosted by Harris and the Beer Tent.

Where do I check-in during Harris Alumni Weekend?

Guests registered for Harris Alumni Weekend activities will pick up their event name badges at the designated locations on the below dates. Guests only need to check-in once and will utilize their name badge for the weekend.

  • Sunday, June 2 - Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at the Standard Club, 320 S. Plymouth Ct., Chicago, IL
  • Saturday, June 3 - Registration opens at 5:30 p.m. at Ida Noyes Hall, 3rd floor, 1212 E. 59th St., Chicago, IL

Note: Harris Alumni Weekend guests cannot check-in and pick up Harris name badges at the central University Alumni Weekend registration tent on the Main Quad.

What is the recommended attire?

For the Friday, June 2 events, we recommend business or semi-formal attire for the Networking Reception & Alumni Awards. In addition, those attending their class dinners will also want to be in semi-formal attire as each class will be taking class photos!

For the Saturday, June 3 events, we recommend businsess casual attire and comfortable shoes as you may be walking around campus a bit.
I am flying in for Alumni Weekend events, where should I stay?

Harris has reserved a block of rooms at Club Quarters Hotel, Central Loop. In addition, the central University has acquired a few partner hotels offering discounted rates for University of Chicago alumni as listed below:
